The find of Eva Seidenfaden of
Scheiner’s original diagram of the 1630 Rome
halo (Applied
Optics 50 F60-F63 (2011)), which has thought to be lost forever, is
discussed. The diagram show a legendary halo about which she has published before
with Tape and Können (Applied
Optics H72-H84 (2008)), and which has helped Huygens to develop his halo
theory.
